2009

haha.
How is it? Hope it will be bigger than RJC. Haha. Then i can proudly proclaim in my school that DHS campus is BIG. But anyway, when it is built and stands where it is now, i would have graduated. Lol. haha. anyway, really excited about the new campus and the new face. Of course, i reminisce the past. But yea, haha. YEAH.
ANYWAY,
AN ANNOUNCEMENT from DHS website:
The DHS ANNIVERSARY DINNER 2006 shall mark the finale of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations 2006. It shall be held on the 14th Oct 2006 at the SUNTEC Ballroom. It aims to have about 100 tables to be filled for the dinner by the many stakeholders of DHS. Anyone, want to go? Haha. Ok lal, it is expensive. Haha. Anyway, once i dreamt that we put up one skit for this dinner. Haha.Like what we have done for the Total Defence Day, that ever amusing skit. Haha. Anyway, just some random blabbering.

hey
hey guys, i jus finsihed exam tat's y until now then i post an entry here...sorry abt tat....anyway, really appreciate the photos hh put up..and yea....now then realise how great it is for someone to hav taken photos of the normal days in 4i 2005....helps to remind us of the great days we had 2gether.....n also to kill time here in aust haha...i really missed Preston's pictionary and all the notices....so special...unique to 4i...and does anyone noe when dhs is gonna get renovated? coz i really wanna take some photos and try to sit on my seat again b4 everything changes....hope it will be after dec but not likely i think....so...
i might need u guys' help, if u hav photos of our classroom/sch surroundings then send to me via email if u guys r free.....if dun hav then hehe....jus wondering if any of u may go bk to visit teachers then......if possible jus bring a camera wif u...? and take some photos!! thks

haha. people always say my phototaking is rubbish. haha. but rather, i think the random pictures taken by me are becoming precious for the years to come :D haha
i shall post some pics here gradually.
haha.
hmmm.
reading liwei's entry has kinda evoked me of the past.
hmmm.
amid mugging frantically for the mid year exams,
it kinda reminds me of the prelim n o level period.
oh, digression.
what i want to say is that,
maybe it is because of separation did we start to notice and sense preciousness of 4i bond. maybe before that, we didnt even know that our class was actually this nice and bonded. separation has made our bond stronger. so in a way, separation is good coz we tend to treasure more when we are together as a whole class :D like during gatherings (my happiest time) haha.
err..try to look at the brighter side.
i used to look forward to gatherings, eg in april when days were hard, i would think, yes, sth to look forward to, 4i gathering in june. haha. then i would feel much better and have the spirit to strive.
haha. we should be just glad that we have such a nice class. yeah. i guess, it is unique bah. haha.
some people in our class are really weird. hmmm.haha
ok
yea.
all the best to our mid-year exams which we have never had one for past 4 years.
i just mugged 4 chapters of biology and now the brain has reached saturation.
time to sleep too.
btw, i have no idea what the genetic variations are talking about. anyone can offer help to me? haha.
hmmmm.
take care!
cheers,

remembering the old days
this is a post that is cross-posted from my blog from a long long time ago...written to liwei...I'm sad that 4i is now in different schools...or countries(like Cho Kwan and Anita), but hey, we still keep in touch, don't we. Everytime we have class gatherings or i see someone else from our class I feel this sense of homecoming that cannot be taken away, i believe, even years and years down the road. As you said, 4i 聚得虽慢,永远不散!!!!!!!haha i think we should remember that. Aiya thinking of this topic always gives me lots of food for thought. Perhaps we have really enjoyed our lives in 4i, so now we need to readjust to the cruel reality that is our life. The only time when we can finally 解脱 will be when we disappear off the face of this earth. So many things have happened recently, it makes me appreciate life more? Maybe. Even though i'm disillusioned now, it doesn't make sense to keep harping on it and not moving on. Its rather hard to move on...I dun think i'll ever find another class more wonderful than 4i. And also the friends made there...our friendships will continue to live on!!!!
Here's to all you 4i ppl out there...

Building a Dunmanian Heritage
This is a letter from the Dunman High in Year 2006 to the Dunman High in Year 2031. It is part of a collection of artifacts t hat will be placed in the Dunman High Time Capsule on 31 Mar 2006. When this Time Capsule is open ed, you will catch a glimpse of the life, dreams and aspirations of Dunmanians who pass this way 25 years before you.
This Time Capsule is our little contribution to the building up of a richer Dunmanian heritage and identity. We are a young nation. As a school, we are not much older than our nation. It is important that a young community like ours cherish and preserve our heritage, because it is through history that we learn who we are and appreciate what makes us unique.
As a historian (Henry Steele Commager , 1902 – 1998) once put it , “for a people to be without History, or to be ignorant of its history, is as for a man to be without memory—condemned forever to make the same discoveries that have been made in the past, invent the same techniques, wrestle with the same problems, commit the same errors; and condemned, too, to forfeit the rich pleasures of recollection.”
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
Dunman High has enjoyed 50 years of success, and much of it was achieved against the odds. Started as a small Chinese Middle School in 1956 with only about 100 students and 10 teachers, Dunman High even had to borrow a primary school campus to serve as her initial school ground. Except for tables and chairs, the school had little else then. Today, Dunman High has grown to be one of the top school s in Singapore . Our students are known throughout the country for their outstanding academic performance and strong co-curricula achievements. More importantly, the public has come to associate Dunmanians with admirable qualities like integrity and uprightness.
There were many other challenges that the school had to overcome. For instance, it is difficult today to imagine how a Chinese medium school could convert to the English medium of instruction in 1980 and still do better than many other top English medium schools in the national examinations. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, but one that is no surprise to those who experienced first hand the determination, resilience and talent of our pioneering students and staff.
When other top schools in Singapore began to turn independent in the 1990s, Dunman High boldly decided to remain a government school. To those who are status conscious, this may seem like compromising our standing as a top school. To the educators in Dunman High, however, this is simply a natural extension of our beliefs in education. We remember our humble beginnings and believe firmly that good education should be accessible to the masses, without children having to worry about affordability. To this day, we stayed true to our cause of providing top quality education at a fee affordable to the masses.
Just as Issac Newton who felt that he could see further than others because he had stood on the shoulders of giants, we in Dunman High feel likewise when we look back on our accomplishments. Without the wisdom, devotion and sacrifices of the ex-staff and principals of Dunman High, the school would not have the strong foundation that we enjoy today. The resilience and imagination demonstrated by them in achieving against the odds continue to inspire and guide us as we chart new frontiers for the school.
Our Journey Forward
Going forward, we will honour our history by preserving two important features in the way we educate Dunmanians:
Character development must take precedence over all other domains of developments. If we ignore character building, everything else that we do in education will be to no purpose but to make the worse or more dangerous man;
Dunmanians must continue to aspire for excellence and give of their best in everything they do. Success in life is an attitude – the attitude of putting our heart, mind and soul even to our smallest acts.
Just as our pioneering teachers and students who built Dunman High from an unknown school to a leading secondary school, we are now embarking on a similar journey to develop Dunman High into a leading junior college. The goal we set for ourselves is to become one of the top 5 junior colleges in the A-level examinations. This is a challenging task, but it cannot be more challenging than what our pioneers experienced 50 years ago. If our pioneers can do wonders with a small, unknown and poorly equipped school 5 decades ago, we must be able to do much more with a school that is already among the very best in the secondary school league.
Apart from our A-level ambition, there are other goals we have set for ourselves in the years ahead. Dunmanians are already famous for their sound values and upright character. We want to nurture Dunmanians into future leaders who are as well known for their passion, confidence, leadership and creativity as their integrity, uprightness and willingness to serve. We want to see Dunmanians who are confident but not arrogant, passionate but not self-centred, articulate but not flamboyant, and creative but not scheming.
These are our dreams for the future, and the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Our dreams will progressively turn into reality, if this generation of Dunmanians exhibits the same pioneering spirit and never-say-die attitude as the Dunmanians who built this school over the last 5 decades. Like a wise man once said, “what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us ”.
Question for the Future
As you, the future Dunmanians, read this letter, I would like to ask you: have our dreams come true?
Sng Chern Wei
an old boy (1984 – 1987), who loved the school dearly;
an ex-Dunman High teacher (1997 – 1998) , who cannot think of a more worthwhile profession than teaching;
the serving Dunman High Principal (2005 - ) , who asks for the strength and wisdom to lead the school to greater excellence.

heys! liwei is back! :))hahas. hmmm the window is not haywire when you view it in unicode leh. i think all blogspots can be viewed well using unicode. thai windows is ok. but unicode is fine as well.
now i have a list of people to thank for the success of the class outing held ytd.
1. zhiwei's parents for lending us his place
2. zhiwei's mum for cooking red bean soup for us
3. zhiwei's brother for helping us take class photo
4. zhiwei for cooking fried rice for us
5. xinyu for going back to hc to get mahjong set for us
6. hongjie eunice and all who brought cards to play bridge
7. felicia for bringing vcds
8. eunice for bringing wangwang biscuits (it was yours rite? i cant really rmb)
9. felicia and huanghuan for bringing camera
10. huanghuan for taking photos
11. all who turned up ytd, because the success is determined by the turnout rate!
yay. i am glad to see so many people turn up ytd.
anyway me as the 创办人 of this blog, DEMANDS everyone who post to leave a name whom we can identify you with. its quite irritating to guess who's posting. this applies to those who are tagging as well. hahas.
anyway who's interested to have another class outing during the long weekend which falls on youth day. we can book a chalet on that weekend. cuz yihan has a discounted chalet coupon which can only be redeemed on non-public hols and non-sch hols. pls indicate your interest as soon as possible. actually it would be better if only those who are against this idea to indicate. if not the tagboard will be flooded.
well not that i mind actually. hahas.
anyways good luck to all your block tests/mid-years/common tests etc.
cheers, liwei

we intend to burn one cd (containing all the 4i pics) to everyone.
when do u think we can do that? end of this yr?
felicia is concerned that the vol of photos will increase soon and every year.
then xinyu proposed to burn one cd every five years (really have foresight! ) haha
yea. what do you think??
yea yea
thnx
jiayou
and good luck for ur mid-yr exams :D
cheers,
huanghuan
pls bear with this state of the blog for a while.
apologise for this.
i will try to solve this problem asap.
to puiyee: hey, do u know whats the problem with this blog?? why are all the entries placed out of the way o.O! pls help me reorganise/change sth to revamp it :)) thnx.
then, if possible, pls help me think of a way to add the two new faces to the skin too, ms pear and mrs tan. :D. liwei will send me their pics, right?.yea.
or puiyee, do u wan simply to change the skin?? haha.. its up to us yea. i was thinking about that. but so far, i cant find a nice one. have been too sceptical. hmmm..yea.. if u dont have time to do, its alright! :) thnx.thankx for coming yesterday :)) u should have stayed.haha.:P
i am now at felicias house..
eunice and felicia are still having their beauty dreams. xinyu has gone to aljunied to pray( nian jin-na fou oh mi tuo fou?) paiseh..
anyway, yesterday was a very short gathering (sadx) haha. i dont think i had enough FUN with some people leaving half way to have supper coz someones mum was fetching them -____- and some people leaving early too (valid reasons though haha :)) but definitely, we had fun.. it was quite hectic to take down pics of the class together (sadly, we forgot to take pics with indra before he went off :( )
well, just want to say that, dont u think that being together is sth cherishable?? haha. even though i was really bored by the world cup match and felicia's jap show and the word games, i felt happy just coz 4i people were TOGETHER!! yea!! haha..
i treasured everyone congregate without being forced to do so or unwillingly ( hope weijin was not coerced by me to come. right, weijin? haha. its the duty of a chairman to come to every outing right? haha :)) then, yea.. life would not be complete without 4i gatherings during hols. so, u better come for every gathering that xinyu, preston, liwei or whoever organises. Dont be antisocial or zi4 ming4 qing1 gao1 ok? (listen, hj!!) haha
ah well again, haha. i am just kidding above except the congregation thing. haha. basically, we would like to thank those who were able to make it yesterday to ziwei's house. not to forget those who were not there due to some reasons, we understand and try come next time hehe. i sound like weijin speaking? haha. anyway, yea. ( i should force weijin to make a chairman speech here though, good idea!!! msg him later :D) if he cant make do that, mr secretary, u have to do that :D haha.
Errr..then for the 20+ jun, the mr teo's birthday, there is another class gathering i suppose but yea, hmmm...dont know.. felicia and xinyu are not going..haha..so...hmmm.. i might just stay at home mugging before i suffer when the new school term rings the bell. :S see how things go :D
photos ( from felicia's superpower camera. i will upload mine when i gets home)

hehe.

well, suddenly there is a new trend in games that some people play.haha. word games and not mahjong and bridge. thought we were going there for overnight bridge cum mahjong session?? haha.
was surprised to see hj not playing mahjong though.haha.
u know, weijin was constantly standing and watching out. dont know its watching out for the giant to come or too eager to go back home.haha. kidding
i know he she bu de us coz he kept saying 'i m going back, i am going back soon!" for half an hour without making a move.hehe

haha.
in the future, xinyu should thank us for all these shots. very precious kk..haha.
haha

felicia thinks its funny..
haha
xianglong covering his face from this red ray?hahaa..lol

at felicia's house
we talked till very late and watched a movie named, ms congeli?? haha.lol

well, turn ur head around.
haha

well, haha..
some people are just too absorbed in world cup match ( which is pretty boring for me ) -)

puiyee would agree with me..( tt soccer is boring right? haha. lol.)
ok lal.
hehe

another one
class photo
lets count,
20 people came (include indra and mr teo)
oh yea, nearly forget, would like to thank ziwei too for lending his place for us to have a gathering without us spending a cent and his fried rice too ( was amazed tt he knows how to cook. coz i dont know :S.) haha. anyway, people said the fried rice was nice so maybe, ziwei can consider being a chef next time and then participate in chef idol in 20++ haha.
we are now at the felicia's hse.
me-hh, felicia, eunice and koh xinyu :D
hahaha
i am now uploading the pics taken today.
ppl, pls look through them :))
and these pics are for cho kwan :))

Thanks Huanghuan!
for facilitating my blogging =) haha you are indeed dilligent teeheehee.
I'm being lame here.
oh well... just wanna say i miss 4i'05 LOADS =)
heys! updates on activities tmr:
1. pls try to bring cards. we will need many decks of cards for bridge. my hands are itching
2. bring mahjong sets too! i think 1 set will not be enough. so bring more. my hands are really itching...
3. bring camera! take photos! :))
4. bring vcds!!! movie marathon! we can watch while playing bridge and mahjong. and we can talk while watching as well. yay. this applies especially to felicia. :))
5. regarding the time which we can start arriving at zhiwei's house, i believe its 10am. not 10pm. at least that's my interpretation of zhiwei's sms la. erm if there's any changes i'll notify you all asap. but it will be best to ask zhiwei if he's at home before you go his house. if not you may have to wait outside his condo (well i think thats quite impossible, but just call. just in case.)
6. if possible, bring food ba. if not i think quite bad to go his house and 白吃白喝. actually i propose to collect 5 bucks from all who are going and give to zhiwei, for providing a place for us to gather. but we can discuss that tmr.
currently i cant think of anything else to bring. well most importantly bring yourself. hopefully more people can turn up! if there's anything to clarify can call me. or zhiwei. yep. see ya!

this afternoon i was working on this picture above. i was trying to do something to the teachers' face ( either enlarging/making smaller). then i realised, ms goh's skin is really NICE! u see her face, those light yellow and smooth as compared to ms fang's red and pimpled face.haha.
we didnt know that ms goh knows lots about skin care hahaha
so shes able to keep her skin in shape and glowing after so many years of torture by her students.
haha
anyway, i will try to do sth to the pic to make the resolution better soon. will ask some friends ( i am now quite perfectionist :S) haha..

but because everyone is going at different times, we will not be meeting together.
to go zhiwei's house, take 70 from paya lebar mrt station (the singpost bus-stop). after the bus turns left at city plaza, alight after 2 stops.
well if you lose your way just call zhiwei.
